""If
Carl Hiaasen wrote for The Sopranos, it might be half as good as this….A
page-turner that’s part wicked humor and part just plain wicked.”
—Lee Child
After a prison stretch and early release,
prominent mob turncoat Sydney Bifulco retires to a cabin on the Delaware River
to fulfill his dream of the quiet, rural life where he can pursue his newfound
passion for fly fishing. He soon finds it's a lot more difficult than it looks
in the magazines, especially with forces from his past trying either to whack
him or woo him. Enter a cast of local screwballs and a dead hit man in the
driveway. The body goes missing, and an incriminating videotape attracts a rogue
cop, a gangland hypnotist, and skin flick impresarios. An elaborate shell game
develops, and the entire town of Hellbender Eddy becomes embroiled in a quest
for the missing tape. It takes an iced carp and a game of chicken on a train
trestle high above the river to finally set things straight - and to solve the
fiery car wreck murder of an innocent woman many years past.

“A laugh-out loud triumph…this suspenseful black comedy is a page-turning, one
sitting read.”
— Publishers Weekly – Starred Review
“Full of irony and humor! I loved it! All-in-all, I found this to be one of the
most warped, fascinating, and enjoyable reads this year! Full of irony and
humor, readers will not want to put this book down until the last page has been
turned!
— Detra Fitch, Huntress Reviews
“The Godfather meets Carl Hiaasen in this darkly humorous meeting of the Mob and
fishing - how's that for a combination! I'm not much of a fan of fishing, but
I'm always ready to read another good satire of the mob, which Wiprud lands with
deft skill. If the producers of The Sopranos are smart, they'll take a lunch
with this guy and pick his brain right away…Sleep with the Fishes is a good,
quick, amusing read.”

David Montgomery, Mystery Ink
“A black-humored crime novel that can sit comfortably on the same shelf with the
works of Carl Hiaasen, Elmore Leonard, and other politically-incorrect genre
icons. Sleep with the Fishes is fast, fun dip into
Crime-Fiction-With-An-Attitude sub-sub genre.”

Mystery News
“Sheer fun. Wiprud's writing should not be likened to any other writer. Other
writers should be likened to him.”
